Features & Design: 3/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 3/5 ● Sound Quality 4/5
The Fitbit Charge 3 is probably the closest Fitbit has come to merging its smartwatches with the more basic activity tracker devices it's known for. This is because it has been given quite an upgrade over the Fitbit Charge 2, which was basic when it came to smart functionality. The device can now provide you with better notifications from all the third-party apps on your phone. It also has a good number of other new features on board, such as timers and weather. Fitbit is promising that later they will bring out an update that allows you to accept or reject calls from the device.
Due to the small screen size you can’t download apps to the Charge 3 like you can with the Fitbit Ionic or Fitbit Versa. Some people have also experienced issues with the connectivity to your smart phone but that was due to an app update. There have also been issues with the heart monitor and sleep monitor being inaccurate.
Is it for you?
Fitbit has clearly not forgotten who their target market is. The Charge 3 offers the tech savvy sports and health enthusiasts a great option with in-depth sleep analysis and with market leading battery life with the battery lasting a week without charge. The Charge 3 is not yet the perfect fitness tracker but is a huge leap forward for Fitbit.

What we like
Performance, fitness and features the Charge 3 now features timers, weather and more notifications. Can track your swims as well as running, walking and more.
The design and display are comfortable giving you 40% larger screen but a watch that is lighter and thinner. Now completely waterproof giving those that swim a perfect way to track their swim times and distance.
What we don’t like
The fit bit charge 3 still does not have onboard GPS but uses your phone’s GPS. Some people have experienced issues with the heart rate monitor being inaccurate. The Charge 3 can only be charged by its proprietary charger this is due to the waterproofing of the device.
Should you buy it?
The Charge 3 has the same rectangular screen and band design as seen on its the Charge 2, but the design has been refined and tweaked somewhat. The Charge 3 is made from aluminum, rather than the stainless steel its predecessor was clad in.
The aluminum frame allows the Charge 3 to be to be 20% lighter and this results in it being thinner, which has the benefit in both looking and feeling less chunky on your wrist.
There aren't any physical buttons on the Charge 3 as there were on the Charge 2 but rather has a full touchscreen rather than the tap-to-cycle screen we saw on the Charge 2 and as result you’ll do most of your navigating around its features with your finger on the display, which some may like, and some may not.
