Huawei P20 Lite Review
The 3-Minute Huawei P20 LiteReview
Budget Phone with Surprising Quality
By Graeme Messina | January 05, 2019
Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 4/5 ● Battery Life 4/5
Huawei has made big waves in recent months with some jaw dropping devices such as the P20 Pro, which has camera quality like a digital camera. The P20 Lite is not exactly a flagship device like the P20 pro, but it certainly has all the features that would have made it one just a few short years ago. The device is constructed from aluminium and glass, and is solid in the hand, the colors are also amazing with many different options to choose from.
The Huawei P20 Lite does not have dual band Wi-Fi, which is problematic for some people as the 5GHz band offers faster speeds, but other than that, there aren’t too many problems with having a mid-ranged device like the Huawei P20 Lite.
Is it for you?
The Huawei P20 Lite is the ideal phone for light to medium use users that do not need to run the latest 3D games with maximum settings. It is aimed at the mid-range market, and the specs show this, which is fine for the segment of the market that it is intended for. There are many great features to like about this phone.
Meet the Huawei P20 Lite
The P20 Lite has a 16MP camera and a 24 MP camera on the front of the phone, along with a 16MP and 2MP camera set on the back of the phone. The 2MP camera takes blurry photos of the background which is then stitched together with the other camera’s image to create unique depth of field images.
What we like
The P20 Lite is a no frills medium range phone that is intended to be used as a daily driver. The software is quick and responsive, and Huawei has not done too many different things with the device’s OS, which is good for existing Android users.
The microphone features active noise cancellation and there is also an NFC sensor present for cardless payments. The battery that come installed in this model is a 3000mAh Li-Po battery, and the colours that are available are Klein Blue, Sajura Pink, and Midnight Black. Unlike many high end flagship phones, the P20 Lite actually comes with an FM radio that you can tune in with. Contrast ration is 1785:1.
What we don’t like
It’s hard not to like this phone, it does exactly what you would expect it to and it doesn’t have any major flaws. The only real criticisms of the phone are that the covers do feel a little bit like plastic, and the screen’s notch was probably not necessary. The USB connector is also only capable of USB 2.0 speeds, even though it has a Type C connector, which is not a deal breaker, but not great.
Should you buy it?
There are not too many phones in this price point that can offer consumers dual camera setups on both the front and rear of the smart phone for this price point. There are certainly better phones out there with much more than the 4GB of RAM that this device comes with, but the pricing on those flagship devices makes them unreachable for most people. There is a fast charging capability on this phone which makes it a great choice for people that are always on the move. This is a great phone at an affordable price.
