The 3-Minute Huawei P30 Review
Huawei’s Flagship Device with Magnificent Elegance
By Graeme Messina | April 20, 2019
Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 4/5 ● Sound Quality 4/5
The Huawei P30 was released in March 2019 showing its new elegant design with gorilla glass, an aluminium frame and it comes in a wide range of colours. The flagship colour is called breathing crystal and it shows multiple hues reflective in a shiny finish. Unlike the P30 Pro, it is not fully water resistant it can handle a light spill but don’t drop it in the pool. It is light and has a compact design and is easy to use with one hand. The Screen on the P30 is 6.1” Amoled Display with a 1080p resolution. The phone comes with a flat display unlike the P30 Pro that comes with the curved edge display.
The P30 offers some decent features but Huawei kept a lot of the flagship features for the Pro and Plus models. But the standard P30 has still amazing quality shots especially in low light and long-distance. The P30 also offers a standard headphone jack unlike the Pro model. Most of the time the difference between regular and pro or plus models just comes down to screen size and maybe an extra camera lens, but this time Huawei has held a lot of the Pro’s best features back from the regular P30, so there’s a bit more to think about if you’re picking between the two phones, but the P30 is still a good phone in its own right at a much lower price than the Pro.
Is it for you?
If you are looking for the upgrade from the P20 this is the phone for you The P30 comes with some amazing features such as: 422ppi display content on the screen is very sharp. You have these deep blacks and sharp colours that only Amoleds can provide. The legibility in the sun is amazing with the P30.

What we like
The P30 has a flat display that allows for no accidental screen turn on like the curved display of the P30 Pro. The P30 also offers normal jack port so no need for adapters for headphones. There are other good things about this phone include: good looks, taking pictures at night and in low lighting conditions, decent battery life, and more. Speed is also another area where this phone starts to shine, with 6GB RAM and combined Krin and Cortex platforms.
What we don’t like
The P30 has had a few features held back for the Pro and Plus models. Like the Screen size being smaller and the water resistant is better with the pro model.P30 Pro model has Quad rear camera where as the P30 only has a triple rear camera.
Should you buy it?
If you are in love with taking photos and love the frame rate on the Leica cameras this is the phone for you. The Rear Camera is a Leica Triple Camera: 40 MP (Wide Angle Lens, f/1.8 aperture) + 16 MP (Ultra-Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2 aperture) + 8 MP (Telephoto, f/2.4 aperture, OIS), supports autofocus (laser focus, phase focus, contrast focus), supports AIS (HUAWEI AI Image Stabilization). And the Front Camera is a 32 MP, f/2.0 aperture
