Kaiser Baas R20 Review

Key features

Kaiser Baas R20 gives you security when you are driving by recording images and videos while you are on the road. Among its prominent features are automatic recording, GPS tagging of files and output through micro-USB and mini HDMI. This dashcam can be attached to your PC and you can transfer your files to it for viewing later. The 2.7” LCD screen also allows you instant playback.

Introduction

With Kaiser Baas R20, you are always safe on the roads. It records images and videos on a looping basis so that you can produce evidence when required. Powered by the onboard cigarette charger, this dashcam captures content through its 2.7” LCD screen with a wide viewing angle of 135°. You can attach a micro-SD (up to 64Gb) for storage and keep your content safe. Each recorded file is for 5 minutes.

What are the functionalities ?

Seamless recording is one of the highlights of this device. It is an automatic recorder that operates when your vehicle is on the move. It can capture both images and videos that you can play back instantly or later on. The recording loops, which means the oldest file in the storage drive is overwritten by the new content. You can also manually delete content should you wish to. The G-sensor is able to sense any upcoming incident and records automatically. This dashcam is GPS enabled and every image and video that is captured is location and time stamped. Audio recording also happens automatically but you have the option to mute the audio too.

How is the image quality ?

There are three image resolutions available on Kaiser Baas R20 - 1296p (2304×1296), 1080 (1920×1080) and 720p (1280×720). All the three modes capture images and videos at 30fps. The 3Mp sensor captures excellent images and videos at high quality. The video format is MPEG and this allows you view the videos on the dashcam screen or on some other device (your PC for instance) when you connect the dashcam with it.

Is it easy to set-up?

You can set up your dashcam with complete ease. Take it out of the box and stick it in the right place on the windscreen. It draws power from the cigarette charger. The charger has two USB outputs and the you can use the second one for connecting your phone or sat-nav. A mini-SD card needs to be inserted into the dashcam. The only point to note here is that you have a lot of USB cables running around and you should ensure that you put the cables in the right place.

Conclusion: Should I buy it?

The Kaiser Baas R20 price is USD249. While this may seem more expensive than some of the other dashcams, you need to keep in mind that we are talking a much advanced gadget here. The easy setup, automatic recording and GPS logging are some of the features in this dashcam that you will find extremely useful. If safety is on your mind when driving, this dashcam provides you ample amount of that.
