Meet the Samsung Galaxy A30, one of the middle children in the A series. It sits between the Samsung Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A50. The Samsung Galaxy A30 is not the first we have seen on this design, but it is a first for Samsung. The body is made from Glastic: a mixture of glass and plastic to give you a lightweight strong finish and feel. The rear mounted fingerprint sensor is easy to reach and unlocks quickly. The 6.4” AMOLED screen is large and allows for some deep intense colors and is a fully immersive viewing experience. The A30 has been designed to be the most balanced in its range and price category.
Due to the finish it seems to be quite a fingerprint magnet but that is just a minor issue. The screen is large and can be bulky but for others with bigger hands it may be better suited. The screen also has a lower chin which can be a little annoying but once again these small niggles are acceptable for the price point.
Is it for you?
This device is an entry level phone. If you are looking for the good quality phone without breaking the bank then this could be the device for you. The 6.4-inch Infinity-U AMOLED display is very vibrant, with colors popping and contrasting well. It is undoubtedly a good-looking device and would be great for watching videos. At the bottom of the device was a 3.5mm headphone jack, which we are always happy to see, and it also comes with a USB-C connection. When using the Android 9 operating system, we found it smooth to operate, opening apps and navigating menus was easy too. The A30 also comes in some fun colors too.

What we like
The A30 has been fitted with the Exynos 7904 chipset, which matches the benchmark scores of the snapdragon 636. This paired with the infinity U display gives you an enjoyable experience when gaming or watching videos. The large battery giving you 4000mAh and has a 15w fast charger. The A30 offers convenient mobile security with face recognition and secure folder giving you an extra layer of protection for your files and data.
What we don’t like
The device “only” comes with dual rear facing cameras, which when compared most phones coming out in 2019 might seem a little low. Competitors are coming out with triple or quad camera setups. The images during daylight are somewhat washed out but still in good quality but where they fall short is their night images. There have been some issues with the speed of the device as there may be some lag when opening apps.
Should you buy it?
The Samsung Galaxy A30 is a good-looking device, with a large and vibrant screen, although if you are looking for a high quality camera then you might be better off looking at other models. These are the more affordable alternatives to the pricier Galaxy S flagships – these are good looking entry level phones.
